Color Crush ~Rainbow~

I have had a hard time with choosing colors to work with...

and typically I go through phases, where there are certain colors that I am just drawn to, and like to work with.

Not so this (month?)

I am having a color crush that can only be explained with a battlecry-esqe description:

MUST HAVE ALL THE COLORS!!!

here are some of my personal favorites from my web travels (and then one of my own multi-colored expressions!)

Yay for summer dresses and painterly fabrics

Just HAD to share!

As I venture slowly into textile design (while simultaneously cultivating my art career and mommy style...whew!)

I had worked up a couple of painterly floral fabrics, and to my and my daughters delight, Aunty Chris purchased some fabric and made them Summer dresses!

I was already in love with these two, but when they beam and sway and modeled for pics in the mommy-aunty collaboration dresses I completely melted...

here is the link for the fabric if you have some little breezes to outfit this summer!

(or some gorgeous floral window panels? eh? eh?)

well that was my idea anyway...  tee hee

while I continuously dream and work on more designs, there are a few sweet ones to choose from via spoonflower

No! (squirt bottle) Bad Blogger!

It has been a long while since I've posted... again.

(sheepish)

I'm soo-rry...

I do have a Costco sized rolling-shopping-platform thing just loaded with excuses, but... you know...

yadda yadda...

partly I have been hesitant because I am bracing for a major internet move.

Currently in the works, is a slightly more art-centric website being built by one of the best in the blog designing world... (and I happen to be related to her) lucky me!

check out Courtney over at Sweet C's Designs

See, I love to blog, and will still use this platform as an outlet and peek into my personal life intermingled with art, Buut...

The heart just loves what it loves...

and I just feel like I was putting so much more into everything else, and NOT painting, that I actually started to feel so overwhelmed... that I literally just. halted. (Screeech!)

So I consulted Courtney to regroup and get back on track and garner her blog/design savvy to develop a website gallery (and potential future boutique!)

And then I was busy pounding the pavement so to speak...

as I just completed a super fun event at the Mount Tabor Art Walk!

This was quite an eye opening, exciting as well as an educational experience. I felt like I was an art recluse stepping out of the house for the first time... literally. Totally vulnerable and exposed.
But nonetheless free. and invigorated.

I was so fortunate to have met some really great folks, and make some really great connections and was just showered with tons of positive and inspiring feedback.

That there was serious food for the soul.

After that, I feel so full and nourished and ready to take on more steps to get on the Art Scene (seen) har har...

Hi. This is me. This is to show just how bad that I totally suck at selfies. But wanted to text/pic my husband an outfit check while he was playing awesome super- daddy with our kiddos while mommy was posted up in Portland...

I'm a goober.

There's my handsome King

So anyway... in the meantime, please bear with me and my super sporadic postings... I'll be chugging away soon...

As for new pieces on my roster... oh please let me share!

I am fully embracing and cultivating my abstract expressionism style these days, with some florals and nudes mixed in (woo hoo... of course... because ya'll know I just love my florals and nudes...)

but I am finding that the "Eye Poetry" art (as I like to call it)  has been really on my heart/mindspace more than ever

I recall telling RB readers this before, and it still rings true...if only I had a printer attached to my brains... because the colors and imagery really do just come flying at me too quickly the moment I close my eyes...

So when I was younger, there was something about modern art that I always loved, but just didn't quite "get"...until much later and of course after many college psychology and studio art classes having to do with color therapy...

long story short: now I get it. I get it real good... (lol)

So good in fact that it excites me to just to envision that fresh canvas slathered with oil and linseed and... oh the colors... MUST HAVE ALL THE COLORS!!

Okay okay... I will calm down but...

hopefully you pick up what I'm puttin down.

Color Therapy. yes. Eye poetry. Mmmm Hmm.

So here are several newbies to the portfolio(lio)

Minted + West Elm Collaboration = Design Contest!

I LOVE Minted.com

and

I LUUURVE west elm

So when I happened upon the minted website the other day, I almost LOST MY MIND...

(whats left of it anyway...)

Apparently I missed the starting shot "Call for designers and artists" and only had three days to submit my designs for a chance to be featured on either site! And In this journey of finally, actually, owning and acknowledging my true love and calling as an artist, this is a major step for me... a dream in fact.

So like a madwoman right smack in the middle of planning birthday parties, writing blog posts, School pickups and Kung-Fu practices, sustaining foot injuries ~myself, and unfortunately my birthday girl as well : (

I loaded up all that I possibly could until the contest ended abruptly at 10 am on the 26th

If I had more time I swear I would have submitted 800 pieces!

Well anyhow, I now need to turn to you RB readers, family and friends for your help in the voting process!

For what I was able to resize, and upload and upload and resize [whew!] I have created inspiration boards, and please visit My Design Studio to click on the artworks and vote! Yay!

Here is a peek at a few boards... playing interior designer with West Elm stuff is a dream come tue (as I own a few WE pieces already... This way I can pretend I can have all of it (tee hee)

Enjoy!

Thank you so much for you encouragement, your readership and inspiration along this journey...

And as always, more to learn, more to grow, more to come (it's a long road after all... if we're lucky!)
